Bitterness is a terrible thing. It poisons everything around it from the roots upwards and only bad fruit comes from it. I just read a newsletter from one of the left-leaning journalists I follow(formerly of The Intercept) and couldn't help but feel heart broken. It saddens me a great deal that his viewpoint and that of many Americans is shaped solely by politics and ideology. His analysis of the Trump trial is that it really is just a team sport. It's just Democrats & Republicans taking victory laps over a "confusing" trial.
I have felt the root of bitterness creep up my throat as I realise this is a view held by many if not a majority of Americans. Not the simple fact that we can't weaponise the DoJ to go after our enemies, that justice has to be blind and we can't allow ourselves to be gaslit into wishing illegal verdicts rendered to our opponents because we've judged them unworthy. There is such thing as right and wrong. It does seems many don't grasp that concept. I'm almost tempted to be upset with others as I feel that these are kindergarten level constructs. Lessons that don't need teaching. However, this leads nowhere, helps no one and emmiserates everyone.
One of lifes toughest lessons is learning to bear with one another. This means putting up with people who will never view us in a fair light and will in all likelihood always be in opposition to what we hold dear.
