I really appreciated how both the Iranians and President Trump dealt with the assassination of Mr. Suleimani. There was the initial and illegal strike ordered by President Trump then the necessary "retaliation" by the Iranian government. The matter was then laid to rest. This vigilante injustice strike by President Trump is the only criticism I've ever levelled at him and still remains my highest criticism of him. Because of it we were denied an American President who was not a self professed war criminal(though minor league compared to Presidents Obama, Clinton & Bush). I hope for all our sakes 47 will be the watershed moment in American & world history where this is achieved.
All this being said, the current strikes on Israel by the Iranians seem to me to be the same. A simple strategic "retaliation" to save face and ones carried out of necessity from the madness last week when the IDF blew an Iranian embassy and pretended nonsense about it. This had to happen. What happens next is on the American government and the Israeli government. Like President Trump will there be a tweet letting the Iranians know that the matter is considered settled or are the lunatics in charge going to escalate to project a show of strength? I suspect we'll find out soon enough. However, it beggars belief that we are at a point in history where the purported madmen and terrorists are the elder statesmen.
