One of the key praises often heaped upon 2018's "God Of War" and its recently released second opus "God Of War: Ragnarok" is that the video game bestows upon the gamer this sense of being a force of nature. Similar praise to Doom 2016 and its sequel. While much praise has gone towards the video game direction and story telling plus score and sound design, it does seem that the gameplay is what is most often referenced.
To be fair here, the gameplay is incredibly fluid with some limitations to verticality(somewhat resolved in the second outing). However, its the suspension of disbelief or lack thereof that has me hesitant to fall in love with these titles in spite of loving the key protagonists. God of war is plagued by the same pitfals most super heroes are: Knowing the limitations of their abilities and bieng able to explain them away in a believable manner. A puny mansized being fighting off creatures many times its size with sheer brute force is woefully unbelievable and often breaks the immersion for me. My mind is constantly trying to work out the physics behind it and sadly it cannot come up to a comfortable solution.
